lutka-film lutkarsko kazalište lutka stop-animacija filmska lutka medijska specifičnost vizualna naracija This doctoral thesis investigates the medium specificity of puppet animation film in relation to puppet theatre focusing on the way film language shapes the character and reception of the puppet the perception of space and the expressive possibilities of animation. The aim is to establish a comparative analytical framework for comparing the theatrical and the filmic puppet and to operationalize the concept of the medium specificity of puppet animation film. The research is conducted through the method of practice-as-research in which the creation of the authorial puppet animation film The Lights Are On but Grandma Isn't Home serves as the primary research procedure and artistic artefact. Findings are established through a crossreading of three levels: theoretical premises about the puppet the animated object and film language a comparative analysis of the film Mémorable and the performance Nezaboravak which address dementia under different medium conditions and a reflexive analysis of the author's own artistic process. The results show that the puppet's technology and design condition its expressivity and that film language - that is shot focus the organization of time and space light sound and editing - forms a system that produces meaning and assumes the function that theatre often resolves through text. Puppet animation film articulates inner states primarily through visual means and the most valuable insights emerge within the production process itself. The thesis concludes that the medium specificity of puppet animation film is established at the level of the filmic organization of meaning as a system of relations among material construction movement objects space the camera light sound editing and duration. The contribution is realized on three levels: the theoretical where puppet animation film is positioned as a film-puppetry system the analytical through a comparative framework of the theatrical and filmic puppet and the artistic-research level through the authorial film.
